Upper and Lower Slaughter - The Cotswolds

Upper Slaughter

(Like so many places in the Cotswolds Upper Slaughter is a photographer’s paradise.)

Upper Slaughter is a tiny idyllic and totally unspoiled village situated only 10 minutes from Stow. No building construction has taken place since 1906 and the only sizable business in the village is the Lords of the Manor Hotel.

The hotel dates back to 1649. It is set in 8 acres of lawns and wonderful gardens. It offers a wonderful experience for everyone but especially those interested in gardening. (Tours of the garden are available.)

St Peters Church.

This church, founded in the 12th century, is a Grade 2 listed building. The approach to the church is a little unusual. The path to the south door runs between two high banks and may give you the impression that you are walking into a ‘Hobbit Hole’

LOWER SLAUGHTER

Lower and Upper slaughter are linked by a ‘ford river crossing’ or a slightly longer route via a little bridge. Our drivers may drive you through the water if they deem it safe to do.

The Old Mill

This ‘hidden gem’ is the 19th-century water mill. Here you will have the opportunity to visit their Gift & Craft shop, Mill Shop & Museum, Riverside tea room & River Café Terrace
