Hiring a Chauffeur to avoid a DUI
It’s insane to think about how many people think it’s acceptable to drink and drive. Not only does drinking and driving put yourself and OTHERS at risk from a safety point of view, there’s also a high chance you will get caught and slapped with a DUI.
Avoiding drink driving should be easy. If you need to drive, don’t drink. If you are set to have a night of drinking, don’t drive. It’s pretty straight forward, and those that don’t follow the rules should certainly be punished – which they are.
Approximately 85,000 people are convicted of drink driving related offences each and every year in England and Wales alone, and although figures have been dropping year on year since the 70’s, these figures are still quite large.
So, what is a DUI?
For those of you that don’t know, DUI means ‘Driving while Under the Influence’. Most people will think of alcohol when considering a DUI, however drugs, both illegal and some prescribed drugs that are considered to be mind-altering, will also fall under the category for a DUI.
UK DUI Laws and Consequences
Driving or attempting to drive whilst above the legal limit of 0.08% BAC in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and 0.05% BAC in Scotland or unfit through drink can carry a maximum penalty of £5,000 and 6 months imprisonment, along with a minimum of 12 months disqualification.
If you are found to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or both, while operating a motor vehicle, you will be arrested.
Celebrities that have been Arrested for Driving Under the Influence
You’d think that the role models of our world, AKA Celebrities, would conduct themselves in a way that sets an example to those who watch them and love them. With that said, we are still seeing an alarming number of celebrities getting convicted of driving under the influence. Some of the most recent celebs include:
- Ant McPartlin
- Chris Tarrant
- Wayne Rooney
- Duncan Bannatyne (OBE)
- Paris Hilton
- Mike Tyson
- Lindsay Lohan
- Justin Bieber
- Mel Gibson
It’s shocking to think how many DUI’s could have been avoided over the years, but not only this, thousands of fatalities and serious injuries could have also been avoided if those convicted had thought ahead before getting behind the wheel.
